Wag & Fetch sits down with Kobe, a Chihuahua in Vancouver, Washington for a one-on-one interview.
So tell me what your typical day is like.
I head up security at Gravitate Design Studio, so I'm in charge of making sure the perimeter of the building is secure, and that no one takes any food out of the refrigerator. Sometimes, there's napping involved.
Isn't that hard to be on patrol while you're sleeping?
Not really. Dogs have a very acute sense of smell, so if someone came in - say, the pizza delivery guy - I would be the first to know.
Do you have any hobbies?
My job keeps me pretty tied up, but when I'm not working, I enjoy walks to the mailbox. We live in the country so that's a good 1/4 mile jaunt - it allows me to bulk up my leg muscles (see photo) and chase a few cats.
Has your size ever kept you from doing things in life?
Never. It's not about how big you are, it's about how big you think you are. Physically, I'm 9 pounds, but mentally, I'm at least 150 or so. When you work in security like I do, it's all about intimidation. If you let others see the fear in your eyes, whether it's a potential burglar or the UPS guy, you're dead in the water. The only time that size has been a factor is when I'm trying to reach something on the kitchen counter.
What are your long-term goals?
I'd love to take cooking classes...oh, and be able to drive myself to the store.
